With the help of focus groups and consultation with the hospital hosting the experience, ngx developed two experiences to transport and delight kids confined to the clinical setting. On this project helped develop a visually inviting and comforting style with children in mind, fitting the stressful environment of a hospital to ensure the experience would be friendly and welcoming.

“California Landscape” is a 9-screen interactive experience built in the Unity engine, in which visitors use a gesture-based interface to trigger animations in a playfully rendered landscape. “The Treehouse” is an immersive linear media projection which allows kids to populate a whimsical environment with creatures great and small; the goal is moments of agency, play, and joy as part of a holistic approach to care.
